Kobudo Kata or Weapon Kata in Karate-do's Rules & Regulations
1) The Kata from start to end need to be around 3-4.5 minutes long, no more or less.
2) The Kata must perform at least 18-25 techniques. Repeatable techniques at not count. Some techiques might got block & attack in one move - this can be count as 2 techniques. Not more than 25 techniques in blocks, strikes, punch ways, counter-attacks or kicks if to include.
3) The Kata must perform in a safe condition, without hurting yourself or people around you.
4) The Kata must perform in all kind of karate-do stances at least 4 types of stances include Mushubi Dachi.
5) The Kata direction must be either +, X, +&X=*, this means the kata must move toward the following direction must be either moving forward, backward, left or right, 45degrees like the Kata Seienchin. Like compass direction facing North(N), South(S), East(E), West(W), NE, SE, NW, SW.
6) The Kata peformance or techniques must not break the floor tile or wooden planking or anything beside the performance area.
7) There must be a hard & soft breathing method of perfomance inside the kata as we are Goju-ryu Karateka, other then starting (hard way breathing) & ending (soft/hard way breathing).
8) The Weapon(s) should not fall or slip from the peformer hands. Proper throw & catch back is allowed.
9) The weapon must be standard size of the market available - no custom or tailor made weapon allowed.
10) Consistant in repeation if there are one.
We will update this rules & regulation from time to time before certain competition tier start date if necessary.
